“Master of 3D Pop Art” Charles Fazzino (BFA 1977 Media Arts) knows there’s more to the Super Bowl than junk food and a year of bragging rights. As the NFL’s officially licensed artist, Fazzino is responsible for 14 years of original Super Bowl background art, posters, official NFL products, game memorabilia and community outreach.
On December 10, 2013, NBC’s Bruce Beck hosted the Holiday House NYC‘s NFL event to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), where Fazzino’s Super Bowl XLVIII creations were unveiled, including an ornate, hand-painted football helmet and illustrations reflecting the city’s vitality.
An avid supporter of medical and social causes, Fazzino donated a hand-embellished monoprint valued at $25,000 and offered 100% of the proceeds to the BCRF. Additionally, the artist donated Super Bowl inspired artwork to the Host Committee’s Snowflake Youth Foundation, an initiative to improve after-school facilities for youth in New Jersey and the New York metro area.
As if he isn’t busy enough, Fazzino has also created a collectable print and pins honoring the upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Named “Go USA” and “Celebrate Sochi,” Fazzino’s limited-edition 3D pins continue a decade-long tradition of original, oversized pins made for NBC Olympic game broadcasters.
As the official artist for the NFL, the Olympics and Major League Baseball, Fazzino’s work has been featured at countless events including the Indy 500 and the Grammys. For more information, visit fazzino.com.
