SVA’s “Art in the First Person” lecture series kicks off again on Tuesday, January 14 at 7:00pm at 136 West 21st Street, Room 418F with a talk by photographer Lois Greenfield, best known for her unique approach to capturing the human form in motion. 
Her best-selling monographs Breaking Bounds (Chronicle, 1992) and Airborne (Chronicle, 1998) are classics of dance photography. Presented by the MPS Digital Photography Department.
On Tuesday, January 28 at 6:30pm at 133/141 West 21st Street, Room 101C, New York-based street artist ESSAM (a.k.a. Essam Attia, BFA 2011 Photography) and Svetlana Mintcheva, founding director of the Arts Advocacy Project at the National Coalition Against Censorship, talk about art in the street as distinct from art in a museum, regulations of public space and the relationship between an artist’s mission and the constraints of the law. Presented by the BFA Visual & Critical Studies Department.
On Wednesday February 26 at 6:30pm at the SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street, alumnus James Nares (1975 Fine Arts), whose works include films, paintings, performances, photographs and videos, chats with SVA’s Amy Taubin, a contributing editor to Film Comment and Sight and Sound and who writes frequently for Artforum. Taubin is also co-author of the forthcoming monograph James Nares (Rizzoli, 2014). Presented by the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department.
Ukrainian-born photographer Dina Litovsky (MFA 2010 Photography, Video and Related Media) talks about her work on Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00pm at 136 West 21st Street, Room 418F. Litovsky documents New York City nightlife in its many incarnations—clubs, lounges, bars, as well as public and private parties. Presented by the MPS Digital Photography Department.
